Option Play is a discussion based card game meant to help students prepare for college. To get started all you need is 6-10 people. Each person draws a hand of 7 answer cards. One person is determined to be the judge for that turn and draws the scenario card. After the scanario card is read aloud each person chooses an answer from their hand and places it face down. After looking through the options the judge determines which is the best answer. Everyone then draws back up to seven.
The objective of Option Play is to get people talking about their future at college in any capacity. Even when joking about the things you do in the future people took away practical knowledge about what to actually do in some of these scenarios. The way the game plays is meant to metaphorically represent what college is like. "You must play with the hand you are dealt." This is the montra that was repeated throughout development. It really brings about the variance of dorm life.
Option Play is designed for upcoming college students. It works best in highschool guidance courses, first year freshaman orientations, and as a graduation present. If you'd like to purchase option play you can go to the order page on the Small Steps Go Places website.
